The Lee County Tax Assessor’s Office is still actively working to correct an error in the calculation of Homestead Exemptions applied to property owners who submitted their Homestead application during the appeal period of July 1, 2025, through August 15, 2025. The offices of the Lee County Board of Commissioners will be closed Thursday, November 27, 2025 and Friday, November 28, 2025 in observance of the Thanksgiving Holiday. County offices will reopen for regular business on Monday, December 1, 2025. Residential garbage collection services will not run on Thursday, November 27, 2025 and will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

The Lee County Business License Department has begun the renewal process for 2026. All occupations that require a state license or certification must be provided with each application. The State of Georgia recently passed a law which allows local counties, cities, and school boards to limit value increase to all homeowners with a homestead exemption (House Bill 581). The Lee County Board of Commissioners opted in to the new law. This means that your home value will be locked in at the 2024 (not the new 2025) value and will only increase at the rate of inflation as determined by the Georgia Department of Revenue. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. 21-2-492 notice is hereby given that the computation and canvassing of the returns of votes cast in the November 4, 2025 Special General Election will take place in the Elections and Registration Office, 100 Starksville Avenue North, Suite B, Leesburg, Georgia. Computation and canvassing will begin Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 9:00 am. The Board of Elections and Registration will meet to certify the returns on November 10, 2025 at 9:00 am.
