Pursuant to O.C.G.A. 21-2-386 and State Election Board Rule 183-1-14-0.7-15, the citizens of Lee County are hereby notified the Lee County Board of Elections and Registration will begin the processing of paper absentee ballots cast in the May 19, 2026 Primary/Nonpartisan Election at 9:30 am on Saturday, May 9, 2026 in the Elections and Registration Office, 100 Starksville Ave., North, Suite B, Leesburg, and continue until 5:00 pm. Processing will resume on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 10:00 am and end at 5:00 pm. Processing will resume on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at 9:00 am and end when complete.
Tabulation of results will begin at 6:00 pm on May 19, 2026 and results will not be released until after the polls are closed.
The early processing of absentee ballots before the closing of the polls shall be a controlled process in order to maintain the secrecy of all ballots and to protect against the collection or disclosure of any balloting information before the polls close on May 19, 2026 at 7:00 pm.
