The Lee County Tax Assessor’s Office has identified an error in the calculation of Homestead Exemptions applied to property owners who submitted their Homestead application during the appeal period of July 1, 2025 through August 15, 2025.
This issue is related to the implementation of HB 581 and has since been corrected within the Tax Assessor’s system. Updated information will be provided to the Tax Commissioner’s Office so that affected properties may be re-billed accurately. This correction applies only to the County M&O (Maintenance & Operations) portion of the property tax bill.
If you submitted a Homestead application between July 1, 2025 and August 15, 2025, you should expect to receive a revised property tax bill reflecting the corrected Homestead Exemption amount. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to ensure full accuracy in the application of exemptions.
Please Note: The Tax Commissioner is responsible for the billing and collection of property taxes and does not determine property values or millage rates, which are used to calculate taxes owed.
