Level 1 Drought Response Declared Statewide

Posted on

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) Director has declared a statewide Level 1 Drought Response for public water systems utilizing surface water and/or groundwater sources.

The Lee County Utilities Authority strongly encourages all utility customers and Lee County residents to conserve water and be mindful of water usage during this period.

Water Conservation Tips

Residents are encouraged to:

  • Regularly check for and repair leaks inside and outside the home.
  • Turn off faucets while shaving, brushing teeth, washing faces, or preparing food.
  • Water landscapes only when necessary.
  • Adjust sprinklers to avoid watering sidewalks, streets, and buildings.

Outdoor Watering Guidelines

Under Level 1 Drought Response, general landscape watering is permitted only between 4:00 PM and 10:00 AM daily.

The following activities may continue at any time of day:

  • Irrigation of personal food gardens
  • Irrigation of newly planted or replanted seed, turf, or landscaping for up to 30 days after installation
  • Drip irrigation and soaker hose watering
  • Hand watering using a hose with an automatic shutoff nozzle or a handheld container

We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to conserving water resources for our community.
