The offices of the Lee County Board of Commissioners will be closed Monday, January 19, 2026 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Holiday. County offices will reopen for regular business on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Residential garbage collection will not be affected and will run as scheduled.

Residential garbage collection services will not run on Thursday, January 1, 2026 and will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

County offices will resume normal business hours on Monday, December 29, 2025. The Lee County Tax Assessor’s Office is still actively working to correct an error in the calculation of Homestead Exemptions applied to property owners who submitted their Homestead application during the appeal period of July 1, 2025, through August 15, 2025. The Lee County Business License Department has begun the renewal process for 2026. All occupations that require a state license or certification must be provided with each application. The State of Georgia recently passed a law which allows local counties, cities, and school boards to limit value increase to all homeowners with a homestead exemption (House Bill 581). The Lee County Board of Commissioners opted in to the new law. The Lee County Tax Assessor’s Office has identified an error in the calculation of Homestead Exemptions applied to property owners who submitted their Homestead application during the appeal period of July 1, 2025 through August 15, 2025. This issue is related to the implementation of HB 581 and has since been corrected within the Tax Assessor’s system. Pursuant to O.C.G.A. 21-2-492 notice is hereby given that the computation and canvassing of the returns of votes cast in the November 4, 2025 Special General Election will take place in the Elections and Registration Office, 100 Starksville Avenue North, Suite B, Leesburg, Georgia. Computation and canvassing will begin Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 9:00 am. The Board of Elections and Registration will meet to certify the returns on November 10, 2025 at 9:00 am.

A public hearing shall be held at the Opal Cannon Auditorium in the T.
