The Lee County Tax Assessor’s Office is still actively working to correct an error in the calculation of Homestead Exemptions applied to property owners who submitted their Homestead application during the appeal period of July 1, 2025, through August 15, 2025. The Lee County Business License Department has begun the renewal process for 2026. All occupations that require a state license or certification must be provided with each application. The State of Georgia recently passed a law which allows local counties, cities, and school boards to limit value increase to all homeowners with a homestead exemption (House Bill 581). The Lee County Board of Commissioners opted in to the new law. This issue is related to the implementation of HB 581 and has since been corrected within the Tax Assessor’s system.
